Basabi Rana, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago. Her research is focused on signal transduction and transcriptional regulation of growth/survival in cancer. She has studied the role of Wnt/-catenin signaling in liver cancer and its potential crosstalk with the PPAR family of transcription factors. She is focused on understanding the signaling pathways that mediate progression and therapy resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma (live cancer) and other gastrointestinal cancers. She has strong working collaborations with both basic and clinician scientists.
